About the Clinic
What does the Career Counseling and
Assessment Clinic do?
We
use a variety of assessments to help clients explore areas of personality,
interests, abilities/aptitudes and work values in order to help assess the fit
of general job areas and/or educational paths that work for you.
I’m looking for job placement as
well. Is this something you offer?
We
are not a placement service, and we won’t tell you about specific jobs or educational
programs. However, we can offer you some
referrals which may offer placement services.
What can I expect from the service?
Our
service consists of five sessions and one meeting to take the assessments. The services generally take place over a
period of six weeks. The first session is known as an intake session, and is
generally 50 to 60 minutes long. During
this meeting the counselor and you meet, discuss goals, and you get a better
idea of what the process will look like.
During the second meeting, you take all of the assessments and that
lasts approximately 3-4 hours. Following
that, there are three interpretation sessions in which you and the counselor
discuss the results of the test. The
last session is known as an integration session in which all of the information
comes together into a bigger picture.
How much does the service cost?
The
total cost of the services is $600 with $60 due at the time of the intake
session. If you are a University of
Minnesota alumni who belongs to the Alumni Association, a 15% discount is given
for a total of $510.
If I go through the intake, and I don’t
like it, can I stop?
Yes,
you can. If you meet with a counselor
for the initial intake session and decide that the services aren’t for you, you
only owe the $60.
Can I schedule additional sessions?
Yes,
additional sessions can be schedules for additional cost.
What assessments are used?
The
California Psychological Inventory, the Strong Interest Inventory, the
Minnesota Ability Test Battery, and the Minnesota Importance Questionnaire are
used in our services.
How long do the assessments take to get
back?
The
assessments take approximately two weeks to get back.
How soon can I schedule an appointment?
Currently we have a waitlist, but we'd be happy to put you on the waitlist to help get you started. For more details, please contact us.
I'm looking for help with my resume/interview skills/internet skills/placement services etc. Can you help?
We don't offer services related to resume building or placement, but we can refer to resources in the area that may be able to help.
